A message from our Chairman, ZL1GMB
2018 is a year of challenges for our branch. The new Fox and Hounds receivers and transmitters are being evaluated. The design has yet to be finalised, but it is on target to be in operation and small person-proof, for JOTA on October 21st and 22nd.
Our Teddy Bear Tracking team is looking at “can we do it better”? If you are available to help with this new challenge please let Julian ZL1ABX or myself know. The goal for the 2018 flight is to beat the previous altitudes. Going possibly twice as high will probably increase the area of where it could land.
The change in the weather pattern for New Zealand provides our AREC Team with a challenge: What if the centre of this week’s storm was in Auckland? Would our antennas still stand? How long can we operate on our backup power supply? Can we provide support for our families and community? There is a chance to look at new modes, and to train to provide a service to our Community.
It is sub time again, please maintain your Membership, and enjoy its benefits.
